Biography
Gul Panag hails from an Army background.Her father Lieutenant General H S Panag, is in the Indian Army and is at present Army Commander, Central Command. She has a younger brother , Sherbir Singh who is a nationally ranked Skeet shooter, who also studied at her Alma Mater, The Lawrence School, Lovedale. She started her education in Sangrur, in Punjab and changed more than 14 schools including various Kendriya Vidyalayas(Chandigarh, Mhow, Leh and Wellington, Tamil Nadu), The Lawrence School, Lovedale and the International School Of Lusaka, Zambia. She did her Bachelors degree in Mathematics from Punjabi University Patiala and Masters in Political Science from Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Career
Gul Panag won the Miss India title in 1999 and was crowned Miss Beautiful Smile at the same pageant. At the Miss Universe 1999 pageant, she was ranked among the Top 10 contestants. Gul began her movie career with the 2003 film Dhoop. Since then she has worked in films like Jurm (2005) and the TV series Kashmeer (STAR Plus). However she received acclaim for her role of Zeenat Fatima, a commoner fighting hard to save her husband from going to the gallows, in the 2006 Nagesh Kukunoor film, Dor. The 2007 film, Manorama Six Feet Under, inspired from Roman Polanski's Chinatown (film), earned her fabulous reviews. In 2008 she acted in the the films Hello and Summer 2007. Her 2009 lineup includes the movies Straight and A Rectangular Love Story. Gul appeared on the front page and a photo shoot for Maxim (magazine) in September 2008.~*~ Subscribe to Get free Email ~*~
