Bollywood Actress Katrina Kaif, The Good and The Bad

While Mallika Sherawat seems to be conquering Hollywood, Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif seems to be conquering everything else.
Katrina has been honored with the Rajiv Gandhi Award under the Best Actress category in Hindi cinema.
Katrina is also being listed as the most "Googled" actress in Bollywood cinema and she was voted "The Sexiest Woman in India" by FHM.

But despite all that, everything isn't coming up roses for Katrina.
Actor Jackie Shroff’s wife, Ayesha Shroff has come forth and announced that Katrina Kaif's real name is Katrina Turquotte.
Katrina has always maintained that her Kaif surname was due to her Kashmiri father, but Ayesha says that the name on Katrina's passport when she came to India was Katrina Turquotte.

Deepika Padukone and Bollywood Actresses on Twitter

CNN.com has an article up about the incredible rise of Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone.
I didn't realize her path to stardom was so humble, but in reading this, I think in the future, the life of Deepika might actually make a good film itself.

"After deciding to become a model at the age of 16, she was picked out of a music video by acclaimed director Farah Khan and cast in her next film opposite Shahrukh Khan. "Om Shanti Om" went on to become not only a hit in India, but also gained wider acclaim among western audiences."

I mentioned awhile back about Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat using her Twitter account, but I really had no idea so many Bollywood beauties used Twitter.
Besides Mallika, Aishwarya Rai, Preity Zinta, Bipasha Basu, Madhuri Dixit and Ayesha Takia all have Twitter accounts, among others.
You should be able to find their accounts with a Twtter Search.

Sushmita Sen and "Do Not Disturb"

The actresses in Bollywood must really be competitive.
I keep reading about their Diva like behavior and catty remarks to other actresses.
And they seem to be threatened very easily.
Even actresses that are famous for getting along with other stars are affected.
Case in point.....

Of course it's not just Sushmita.
If you read this blog you've seen several similar stories about other Bollywood stars.

But it appears their fears are not unfounded.
Just recently Pantene ended a long relationship with Sushmita in favor of South Indian actress Asin.

Besides "Do Not Disturb", Sushmita is working on a Tamil film "Marmayogi" this year.

Neha Dhupia

“Bollywood Hero,” is an upcoming comedy miniseries for the Independent Film Channel starring Chris Kattan (Corky Romano).
But also in the miniseries will be Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia.
Neha may not be a huge hit in India, but her work ethic has brought praise from her America cast and crew.
Initial viewing of the films trailer by critics has lead to the idea that this just may be a sleeper hit, and that will look very good not only on the career of Chris Kattan but Neha as well.

Neha has several movies coming out in 2009 including "Paying Guest", "Pappu can't dance sala", "Raftaar","Raat gayi baat gayi", "I'm 24" and "De Dhanadhan".

Hopefully good reviews for "Bollywood Hero" will boost Neha's career.

Minissha Lamba News

Bollywood actress Minissha Lamba (born on January 18, 1985 in New Delhi) has two movies coming out this year.
Or she did.
Reports say that Minissha has pulled out of the Karan Johar Production "Jihaad".
At first, reports said that it was because of scenes with co-star Vivek Oberoi.
But now it is said that it was because of passport issues (The film is being shot in New York).
Either way, Dia Mirza who has stepped in to replace her.

It appears filming on "Abba Ka Kaun" is going well though.
The upcoming film has Boman Irani playing the title role of ‘Abba’ and Minissha as his daughter.
It also stars Sameer Dattani, Ravi Kishan, Ila Arun, Salim Ghouse, Sonali Kulkarni, Rajit Kapoor, Yashpal Sharma and Ravi Jhankal.

Lara Dutta Updates

It looks like Lara Dutta and Dino Morea's relationship is back on again.
The pair has been seen walking their dogs at at Bandra sea face, and attending the screening of Vin Diesel’s movie ‘Fast and Furious 4’.
A few weeks backs, the tabloids said that Lara was tired of Dino’s womanizing and his renewed closeness to ex girlfriend Nandita Mahtani and had called off the relationship.
But now reports say that Dino is planning to move into Lara’s house.

And Lara may be having a hard time with her Bollywood movie "Blue".
Reports say that Laura feels threatened over the beautiful Katrina Kaif's special appearance in the film.
Who can blame her?
Rumors say that Katrina's role in the movie is expanding and that bothers Lara.
"Blue" also stars Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Zayed Khan.
Kylie Minogue will sing two songs along with Sonu Nigam for the movie soundtrack.

Manisha Koirala Comback

Manisha Koirala was born on August 16, 1970 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
She is a Nepali actress who works in Indian films, although she has appeared in a number of Tamil films.
Manisha is also an accomplished Bharatnatyam and Manipuri dancer.

After being out of the spotlight for awhile, Manisha is trying for a comeback in Bollywood.
She is making the rounds, and she got some good press when designer Maheka Mirpuri announced at the unveiling of her new fashion collection ‘Pure Optimism’, that Manisha had been her "muse".

And this year she will be appearing in Deepti Naval's "Do Paise Ki Dhoop, Char Aane Ki Barish", Jahnu Barua's new movie and Mani Ratnam's "Raavan" (set for release in 2010).

Bollywood Actress Bipasha Basu News

Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu is all over the news these days.

First, she seems to be starting a trend by not wearing make up.
Actually Ameesha Patel started it first, but you know, I wonder how many Hollywood actresses could pull off the no make up look?

And Bipasha is playing Diva again.
At Thursday night's launch of Shiamak Davar's sports wear collection, she was a no show.
Even though Bipasha is the company's brand ambassador and she was in Mumbai.
Rumor has it that she didnt attend because Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan were also invited to the event, so she was afraid she wouldn't get solo media coverage there.
Of course Bipasha's spokesperson denied this.

Bipasha has several movies coming out this year including Aa Dekhen Zara (a romantic sci-fi action thriller movie), Pankh, Lamhaa, Sob Choritro Kalponik and Chaimera.

Bollywood Actress Shilpa Shetty News

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty will be marrying her fiance Raj Kumdra in October of this year, but until then, they are renovating a 5 million pound Surrey home at St George's Hill.
Shilpa seems to be getting into the country life, saying that she can't wait to start raising a family there.

The home isn't the only thing Shilpa and Raj co-own.
They are also co-owners of the Rajasthan Royals, a franchise cricket team that represents the state of Rajasthan in the IPL (Indian Premier League).
Last year, the Royals won the inaugural DLF IPL T-20 Tournament.
Of course Shilpa isn't the only Bollywood celeb to invest in the Twenty20 format of the game.
Shahrukh Khan, Juhi Chawla and Preity Zinta also have interests in the Twenty20 format.

Shilpa also has two movies coming out this year, "The Man" and "The Desire".

Rani Mukherjee Updates

Despite good reviews from critics, Rani Mukherjee's last film "Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic" didnt do well at the box office.
But this year she has three movies coming out.

She has a cameo as herself in "Luck by Chance", Zoya Akhtar's movie about an actor who goes in Mumbai to become a movie star.

In "Hadippa", she co-stars with Shahid Kapoor, Rakhi Sawant and Sherlyn Chopra.

And she will doing some voice acting in the animated film "Koochie Koochie Hota Hain".
The animated feature will be produuced by Karan Johar, and also stars Kajol and Sanjay Dutt.
It is an animated remake of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
