Jenny Suh

Congratulations to Jenny Suh, who won the Duramed Futures Tour Alliance Bank Golf Classic in a playoff last week. It's the first Futures Tour win for Jenny, and moved her from 56th all the way to 15th on the tour's money list. The Top 10 at the end of the year earn status on the LPGA for 2010, and there are four tournaments left in the Futures season.

Jenny is in her second season on the Futures Tour. In her rookie year of 2008, she finished 20th on the money list, and was also in the Top 20 in scoring average. Her best finish in '08 was fourth.

Suh, a Virginia native, turned pro in 2007 following a stellar amateur career. She split her college career between Furman University and the University of Alabama, posting a combined 26 Top 10 finishes and five victories.

The year 2006 was a particularly good one for Jenny. She earned first-team All-America honors for Alabama ("A big 'Roll Tide Roll!'," she replied when I asked if there was anything she wanted me to be sure to include in this post*), won the prestigious North and South Amateur Championship, and played for Team USA in the Curtis Cup.

Jenny's coach is Kirk Lucas, who teaches out of Warrenton, Va. Do a YouTube search for "Jenny Suh" and you'll find several videos of Jenny and Kirk demonstrating different aspects of the golf swing.

(*True story: Although I've never set foot in Alabama, I portrayed Bear Bryant in a one-man show in the sixth grade. Usually, I just say the show was "off-Broadway" and leave it at that.)
